Situation
As a company operating in industries where precision and reliability are critical, William Cook faced the challenge of improving transparency, efficiency, and return on investment (ROI) in its procurement processes. With significant annual expenditures on raw materials, the company needed a solution that could not only optimise purchasing decisions but also expand its supplier base to enhance supply chain resilience, particularly during industry disruptions.
Visibility & central purchasing unit
“Bringing in Metalshub gave us the necessary visibility and helped us make more strategic purchases. On a group level, it also enabled us to create a central purchasing unit. In these unprecedented disruptions in the raw material industry, it is crucial to broaden our supplier base. Apart from having an efficient tool to manage our procurement, we could find new suppliers on Metalshub, which drives our supply chain resilience.”
Solution
To address these challenges, William Cook implemented Metalshub’s digital procurement solution across its group operations. The software was introduced to increase transparency in enquiries, offers, and negotiations, providing the visibility needed for more strategic purchasing decisions. The solution also facilitated the discovery of new suppliers, allowing William Cook to broaden its supplier base and create a centralised purchasing unit, further streamlining procurement processes.
Results
In the first six months following the implementation of Metalshub, William Cook achieved impressive results in its procurement operations. The company onboarded more than 30 new suppliers, significantly broadening its supplier base and enhancing supply chain resilience. Additionally, William Cook realised a 2.6% cost savings on materials. As of summer 2024, over 240 transactions were successfully concluded through the software, further demonstrating the efficiency and effectiveness of the Metalshub solution in optimising procurement processes.
